Sugar

Sugar is a high energy product used to produce food and beverages as well as in pharmaceuticals and in the chemical industry. Over the last few years, sugar has also risen in popularity because of its use in eco-fuels.

Among major sugar producers, the most important are Brazil, India, the EU, China, Thailand, and the US. Sugar as an underlying asset often makes one or two-day rapid movements, which then turn into more calm midterm trends. During active rising or falling cycles, the sugar price can change by as much as 10% to 20% in a single month. Sugar quotes are influenced by both predicted and actual harvests.

Sugar is traded actively from 2 to 7 PM GMT.
