NASDAQ 100

The Nasdaq 100 index is an index of the 100 largest high-technology companies by capitalization listed on the NASDAQ exchange. It doesn’t include companies of the financial sector for which the NASDAQ Financial-100 exists. Among the companies included on the index one can mention such technological giants as Apple and Microsoft.
It has been published since 1985, in 1998 foreign companies were included in the index.

The Nasdaq 100 Index reflects the dynamics of a single, high-technology US sector. During the periods of IT-industry heavy growth it can outpace more complex indexes, but in the periods of investors’ preferences changing it may lag behind them.
