Adding to the previous two updates we now look at the French stock market index- the CAC 40, because that got its name in the record books yesterday too. The CAC reached a new all time high yesterday, at 8,642.32. Amazingly, the prior record high was set back on February 26 this year, at 8,642.23.
So, as you can see, less and one fifth of one point separated the two highs. You do not see that kind of beat very often. Nevertheless, it was a new record for the CAC 40 yesterday, but not a record close, when the index ended the day, at 8,613.82, with a gain of 104 points on the day. The futures are indicating a higher opening this morning, but if course that might change in the next 90 minutes. It will be interesting to see if the index can get above 8,642.32 later this morning, because at the same time there is still the potential for the mother of all double tops to be set in place.
We shall have to see on all that in due course. The CAC 40 is currently priced to reopen around 8,642
