EUR/USD unable to make it count as USD/JPY rebounds

The EUR/USD set a synthetic US close last night at 1.1623. Earlier today it made it has high as 1.1636, but in truth only because the USD/JPY fell below 153. The problem for the EUR/USD is the EUR/JPY and how price discovery there keeps impacting the ability of the EUR/USD to make any headway and that is keeping the dollar index more elevated than might otherwise be the case.

So, as the USD/JPY pushes higher now this morning, that is forcing the EUR/USD back down and risk aversion is not helping the Euro much either right now. The USD/JPY has just reclaimed the 154 handle. The EUR/USD low seen so far has just been set at 1.1608
