USD/JPY recovery continues for the time being

As we write the USD/JPY has just extended a rebound back above the 154 handle and lifted towards 154.25. The simple reason for this further push higher in the dollar seems to rest with the oil price and that has dented the Yen and detracted from the fall seen earlier today, when the USD/JPY fell below 153. So, we once again remind readers of the negative impact on the Japanese currency when oil prices rise significantly, as indeed they have now today.

That said, we know the BOJ/carry trade dynamic can sop easily kick in again, but for now it is the other that is weakening the Japanese currency and how much further the dollar has to rise is not certain, because it may have done enough already. We shall see on that. The USD/JPY is right now at 154.17
