Monero (XMR) is a cryptocurrency based on the Crypto Note protocol and aimed to provide maximum anonymity to those engaged in transactions. Monero was launched on the 18th April, 2014, as a Bytecoin fork, which was determined by the Bytecoin community. The number of issued Monero coins is unlimited; after the initial 18.4M coins have been issued, every 2-minute block is expected to bring XMR 0.6. The XMR / USD rate depends entirely on supply and demand, with its real value being determined by its popularity and relevance.
