US consumer confidence index slips in July and so does the dollar- EUR/USD off earlier lows

The US July consumer confidence index has just been released alongside the latest Richmond Fed manufacturing index and both have missed on expectations. The consumer confidence index fell to 90.8 from 92.1. It was expected at 92.2. The Richmond Fed index rose to just 5 from 4 and was expected to rise to 10.

The dollar was off the boil leading into this data anyway and these numbers have not exactly helped very much, but it may yet look through the data as the session wears on. We shall have to see on that, but the EUR/USD is off the earlier low, which saw it fall to 1.1353. It is currently trading at 1.1375
