Dollar index (USDX) stalls again on the topside around 101.85

The dollar is losing some traction just now. In the previous update we noted how that had impacted the USD/JPY lower and it has helped the EUR/USD to press a bit higher, along with the GBP/USD. That said nothing has broken any fresh ground yet this afternoon, but certainly the opening outlook for the US stock markets this afternoon has now seen all three major futures in the red. The Dow Jones future is handing back more at this moment too.

Earlier today the dollar index traded above 101.80 again, peaking at 101.85, but it slipping back again right now. It seems to hitting resistance around that 101.80-85 level, very much as it did yesterday and again earlier today.

At 1.45pm GMT we get the same US October flash PMI data we had earlier from France, Germany, the EU and the UK. The US data is expected to come in slightly lower than seen in September and the dollar looks like it could do with something a bit better.  The dollar index is just off the lows right now though. It just traded back to 101.61. It is currently trading at 101.68
