DAX opens higher this morning

The DAX was the weakest major European index on Friday by the close. Given the surge in oil prices on Friday that should hardly come as a surprise to anyone though. So, the DAX handed back 0.75% by the close and that compared to losses of 0.36% for the CAC 40 and 0.32% for the FTSE 100.

The DAX traded as low as 25,013 on Friday and as you can see, narrowly avoided a fall below the 25k handle. The index later closed 190 points lower, at 25,181. Well, it has just reopened this morning somewhere around 25,240, but we do not yet have an exact opening price due to the feed delay. That higher opening was helped by lower oil prices today, but as we write Brent crude is off its earlier lows and on the rebound again. As to how that shapes the price action on the DAX this morning remains to be seen. The index is right now at 25,245
