Earlier this morning following a series of frankly pointless headlines, the price of Brent crude for November delivery fell back to around $89.50 per barrel. Of course each and every headline, no matter how spurious has an impact on the oil markets and we just have to accept that. So, Brent fell back ahead of the European stock market opening and that coupled with the improved reading on German Q2 GDP helped too.
So, the DAX officially reopened at 26,206, up from a close last night at 26,106. The index lifted immediately and hit a session high at 26,227. However, it has since stepped back to around 26,175 and that comes as the oil price rebounds and the German IFO index looms at 8am GMT. The DAX is currently trading at 26,210
