The important and eagerly awaited Q3 earnings report from Apple (AAPL) has just been released. The company has revenue of $114.50 billion, with an EPS of $2.10 and all other aspects of their report are above forecasts, apart from I-Pad revenue, which missed.
In the previous update we noted how the Nasdaq 100 was falling back from an earlier session high at 28,753. Well, it continued to unravel into the close and that delivered a new interim low for the index, at 27,968 ahead of what was a 395 point loss on the day and a close at 27,989.
So, either way you want to cut that, it was a disappointing end to the first trading day of the month, especially when one considers the rebound earlier in the session. The index was pricing the opening for tomorrow as high as 28,110 before these earnings from Apple hit the screens. The immediate reaction has seen that opening a little bit lower, currently around 28,070, but trading is pretty choppy out there.
We will be back early tomorrow to report on the impact of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) policy decision. The RBA is widely expected to raise their OCR from 4.6% to 4.85%
