Internet Computer (ICPUSD)

Internet Computer is the first decentralised public network with unlimited bandwidth. It was created by the DFINITY Foundation. Its function is to provide public Internet services and allow server software to be hosted on the network. 

This decentralised cloud computing platform helps software developers freely share their software platforms with open source code online without having to rely on tech giants like Amazon and Facebook or servers and commercial cloud services.

The Internet Computer token works on its own proprietary protocol called Internet Computer. It aims to establish protocol governance and facilitate network transactions. ICP holders can use it to vote for governance proposals. Another function of a network transaction is that ICP can transform into cycles that power computing. ICP holders can use the token to pay for transaction commission. Unlike the current Ethereum network, payments for ICP have a fixed price per transaction.

As of the end of May 2021, around 124 million ICP are in circulation, and the coin's capitalisation is $13.6 billion. This has earned it 11th place among cryptocurrencies by this indicator.
