Consumer technology stocks were bright spots in a pretty flat overall market midday Friday.
The S&P Consumer Discretionary Sector index was just up about 0.2% as of 11:55 AM ET (15:55 GMT), but Dish Network was standout component.
Dish (NASDAQ:DISH) stock rose about 4.3% after it beat quarterly expectations on the top and bottom lines and also shed fewer subscribers than anticipated.
And action-camera company GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO) soared about 19%. GoPro reported a quarterly loss narrower than Wall Street expectations and also said it expects to be profitable in the second half of the year.
Video game stocks were also active midday.
Take-Two Interactive Software (NASDAQ:TTWO) jumped about 11%. The company handily beat earnings and revenue forecasts thanks to strong performance from “Grand Theft Auto Online.”
Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA) also gained midday, rising about 1.7%.
But Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ:ATVI) failed to join the rally, falling about 3.4% after issuing weak guidance.
