The USD/JPY is higher so far today. The dollar had closed in the US last night at 148.18, after recovering from a low at 147.63 set just ahead of the 4pm London fix yesterday. The further gains so far today have come even as US yields have remained stationary for the most part, but slightly lower on balance. The reason for the push higher in the USD/JPY has been due to comments from the BOJ deputy governor, Uchida, who has re-iterated the Japanese central bank policy stance is not set to change. Uchida also stated; that it is hard to see a path of rapid BOJ rate increases. His comments have helped to drive the Nikkei 225 higher and Yen lower. So, the USD/JPY has risen to a high at 148.73 just now and taken all the major Yen crosses higher with it. The USD/JPY is currently trading at 148.72
