USD/JPY extends gains above 144.50 as Ueda debriefs the press

Since the last update here and the earlier unchanged monetary policy decision from the Bank of Japan earlier today, the USD/JPY has advanced further above 144. That further gains in the dollar have helped to lift the major Yen crosses as well. The move higher in the USD/JPY has seen it rise above 144.50 and this comes as the BOJ governor, Ueda debriefs the press and adopts something of a cautiously dovish tone to his rhetoric. That is pretty consistent though and not exactly a surprise, but he has helped to push the Yen lower. The USD/JPY is right now at 144.58
