The USD/JPY has not broken any fresh ground since (in either direction) the last update here on its progress. It seems the pair is still digesting the implications of the Japanese LDP defeat on Sunday. The bias is clearly still northbound though, but further gains in the dollar have been elusive so far today. That said the USD/JPY is above its earlier session low (152.76). The close last night in the US was set at 153.29 and the range seen so far today has delivered a high at 153.36. Right now the dollar is pushing back towards that session high and it is still largely being supported by another gain in the Nikkei 225 earlier today (closed 298 points higher) and also those elevated US yields continue to add support too. The USD/JPY is currently trading at 153.20
