USD/JPY continues to extend gains above 149

Since earlier updates here noted the focus on the BOJ and the comments made from the deputy governor, the dollar has continued to advance. The USD/JPY has now lifted above 149 for the first time this year. To be honest with you, I am not in the least bit surprised by this, as it was made a live prospect here earlier this morning. The high seen so far has been set at 149.38. The obvious next important level is now at 150, but it remains to be seen if the move will extend that far today. There is also one US release that might have a limited impact and that comes at 1.30pm GMT- the latest US weekly jobless claims data. Outside of that there is not much on the agenda from the US this afternoon (or tomorrow for that matter) in terms of economic releases. The USD/JPY is currently trading at 149.27
