US stocks slide on the opening but that was no surprise- check the Dow Jones now

The US stock markets have just reopened and of course it has not exactly been a good start to the session. That is understatement, because all three indexes have been hit hard on the opening. The Dow Jones is not the worst in percentage terms in early trading, as that mantle has been grabbed by the Nasdaq 100. However, in points terms it certainly is, but that is understandable too. The index closed last night at 38,797 after reaching a new all time high at 38,927 yesterday. The index just now resumed live trade, officially at 38,699, but in truth you could not possibly have sold any there. So, we class that as a book entry and nothing more. Personally, I find it annoying, but it is what it is and it will not change. The effective opening, even to a robot was below 38,500. The low seen so far has been set at 38,434. It is just bit trying to base out, but we shall have to see how successful it might be. The Dow Jones is currently trading at 38,440
