US stocks slide further into the red- S+P 500 falls below 5,450

As just mentioned in the previous update, the US stock markets have turned sharply lower since opening this afternoon. Hence we now have a fresh interim low in the S+P 500, as that falls to below 5,450 and that is the lowest for the index since it gapped higher on August 14. In that sense the index has now filled that gap extended on the downside towards 5,445. The index reopened today at 5,507.33 and rose to a high at 5,522.47 before this relapse unfolded.
