US stocks reverse earlier gains into the close- S+P 500 futures lower this morning

Last night the major US indexes reversed earlier gains and that later delivered modestly lower closes. The Dow Jones led with a loss of 0.38%, followed by the S+P with a loss of 0.17%. The outlier was the Nasdaq 100, which was the best performer and managed to avoid a lower close, but more on that in another update. As noted the S+P 500 peaked earlier in the day at 5,450.41, fell back to 5,386.44 and later closed just 9.34 points lower, at 5,396.63. Nevertheless that was still a lower daily close and the futures price has fallen further during the Asian session today. The opening call has been as low as 5,335. The reason for the further fall comes following news from NVIDIA that tariffs will cost the company some $5.5 billion in the coming year. At one point NVDA shares were down more than 6% in premarket trading. That has hammered the Nasdaq 100 futures and in turn that has sent the S+P futures lower. The index is right now priced to reopen around 5,340
