US stocks rebound with a passion- Dow Jones sharply reverses a drop below 40k

Yesterday was most certainly a day of two very contrasting halves for the US stock markets. The early part of the session was characterised by some sharp losses, only to be turned around and more by the close. That especially applied to the Dow Jones. As suspected and conveyed here, the index did have a look at the 40k level. The Dow Jones fell to a session low at 39,993 after reopening at 40,638. However, the rebound that followed was even more impressive and in truth certainly surprised this analyst. The Dow lifted all the way back to a high at 40,903, before later closing 124 points higher, at 40,861. So, from the bottom to the top, almost a 1000 point swing. The Asian markets have followed suit this morning too and that has seen the Nikkei 225 rise more than 3% today. This in turn has helped to keep the Dow Jones futures on the front foot this morning and they are currently pricing the opening for later today at around 40,920
