US stocks open in the red- Dow Jones lifts slightly in early trading

As expected the US stock markets have all opened lower this afternoon and the falls were quite marked from the closing levels last night. The Dow Jones kicked off close to, or just below 41,650 and the S+P 500 was opening up below 5,575. The Nasdaq 100 opened lower too, but very soon they have started to pare back those opening losses. Look, it is going to be a very uncertain and extremely volatile session in the hours ahead of that White House announcement on trade tariffs. The outlook is incredibly uncertain right now and pinning down the Dow for example to anything with a hundred or points is guess work right now. That said, as these swings and roundabouts are they to be taken advantage of, if you can. There will be more to follow this afternoon, but updates here are going to be sparse ahead of any coverage around the time of that Trump announcement, at 8pm GMT. The Dow Jones is right now trading at 41,820
