US stocks open lower- S+P 500 drop held in check by tech as US data awaits shortly

The US stock markets have recently reopened and it has been a lower start to the day across all three major indexes. As was evident earlier this Dow Jones is leading the early session losses in percentage terms. The S+P 500 is also lower and in part driven back by the losses in the Dow, but on the other hand the fall is being held in check by a slight gain right now in the Nasdaq 100. Shortly, at 2pm GMT we will get the latest US consumer confidence index and also and perhaps more importantly, the latest JOLTS-job openings report that was covered here much earlier this morning. The S+P 500 is currently trading at 5,810. By the way Gold has not reached a new all time high just now above $2,762
