The lower opening across the US stock markets has now turned around and all three major indexes are edging back into positive territory. Earlier this afternoon the S+P 500 opened lower, at 5,695.64. It then fell to 5,670.94. It is now trading back above where it closed last night, at 5,712.20. That is quite positive in the short term as long as it is maintained. However, as we know these swings do not always provide a more lasting directional clue on where the index might later close this evening. The downside risks have not been removed and we should be mindful of that. Nevertheless, the S+P 500 is just now lifting a bit further into positive territory, currently trading at 5,722
