US stock markets open lower- Dow Jones falls towards 38,500

Well, it is hardly the surprise of the day, but the US stock markets have just reopened for live trad and as you can see it has been a decidedly negative start to the day. Of course it was always going to be that way. So, the Dow Jones, which closed on Friday at 39,737 has just kicked off close to 39k. The index officially reopened at 39,006 and has immediately fallen towards 38,500. The price action is extremely fluid and rapid and likely to remain that way for the rest of the day. The swings will be fast and furious across all these markets, as indeed they have been all day so far in respect to the US futures and the European markets too. The low seen in the Dow Jones so far has been set at 38,511, but it would come as no surprise if that was the low for the rest of the day. Very shortly we will get the US Service sector ISM report and we shall soon see if that data can help to steady the ship, or serve to sink it deeper. The Dow Jones is just now trading at 38,590
