US stock markets kick off the new month in the red- Dow Jones leads the way

The US stock markets have reopened for the first session of the month and it has been a lower start to trading this afternoon. The losses are pretty evening balanced in percentage terms in very early trading so it is not easy to see which of the three major indexes is taking in lead in terms of direction. Readers are once again warned to expect heightened levels of volatility today. The swings will be rapid and unpredictable at times too. In fact as trading gets a little more underway right now, it is the Dow Jones that is taking the early lead on the downside. The index closed last night at 42,001 and just reopened at 41,879. The low seen a moment ago was set at 41,705, but as just noted, trading is fast and furious. The index has just bounced, currently trading at 41,810
