The US September services sector ISM index was forecast to rise slightly, to 51.7 from 51.5. It has just now emerged at 54.9 and that was one heck of a beat. Prices paid are higher too, at 59.4, versus 57.3. New orders are much higher too, at 59.4, versus 53. The employment component is lower but that will not overtake the headline number. The dollar was still holding gains versus all its major counterparts ahead of this release. The reaction subsequent to it has seen the US currency spike higher. The USD/JPY just lifted above 147 on this news and the EUR/USD has just hit a fresh session low at 1.1022
