US data releases on the agenda this afternoon- check out the Dow Jones futures this morning

There are a few reasonably important US data releases due out this afternoon. Those mostly fall due at 2pm GMT and they are the latest nationwide consumer confidence index, new home sales and the latest Richmond Fed manufacturing index. Consumer confidence is expected to fall in March, as is the Richmond Fed index. Conversely, new homes sales are forecast to rise, in keeping with the latest positive news seen in other housing market data. Ahead of all that lot, the Dow Jones is set to open a fraction lower. The index closed last night at 42,583, with a gain of 597 points on the day. It will reopen just ahead of these releases and so they could have an impact. That opening call just now is at 42,570
