US data due today that awaits the Dow Jones this afternoon

Following an earlier update here looking at the relative outperformance of the Dow Jones yesterday, here is some detail on the upcoming US data releases that could have an impact on the price action this afternoon. Those are being covered here, as there will be no updates here after 10am GMT until tomorrow morning, so you need to be aware of what might impact the index this afternoon, especially as the Dow Jones is likely to be the most immediately reactive of the US stock markets to any of that data. So, at 12.15pm GMT we get August US ADP payroll report- expected to come in with a rise of 145k compared to 122k seen in July. Then at 12.30pm GMT we get the latest weekly jobless claims forecast at 230k. At 2pm GMT we have the August ISM services sector index. That is forecast to show a lower reading, of 51.1, compared to 51.4 in July. So, whilst we will get reactions to the data, it remains to be seen what that data is and how any swings after it will play out, ahead of the monthly jobs report tomorrow. The Dow Jones futures are now actually rising, as the European markets recover earlier opening losses. The Dow is currently priced to reopen at 40,990
