The surprise of the day?- check out the S+P 500
The S+P 500 futures were pricing a reopening at above the current record- 6,128.18. At one stage not long before live trading resumed, that opening call was close to 6,140. Well, in the event the index did not manage to open that high. It reopened at 6,121.60 and only reached 6,125.39. The drop since then has seen it fall to 6,108.94. Of course there is still time ahead of the close tonight to deliver a new all time high, but it will surely need another push higher in the Nasdaq 100 to deliver it. The fact that is has so far failed to get its name in the record books today might be of no consequence, but then again it might be too. We shall see. The S+P 500 is right now trading at 6,116
