S+P 500 record leads US stock gains but futures lower this morning
For the first time in quite a while, it was the S+P 500 that lead the US markets higher yesterday. The index rose by 0.24%, compared to a rise of 0.16% for the Dow Jones and just 0.05% for the Nasdaq 100. The S+P 500 reached a new record at 6,147.43 and later posted a new all time record daily close, at 6,144.15. The move higher came even as the European markets had set lower closes earlier in the day. However, the S+P futures are lower this morning, dragged back by the losses across Asia this morning. All three major US index futures are in the red and the S+P 500 is currently indicating a reopening around 6,125
