S+P 500 rebound was pretty impressive

Yesterday the early session moves saw the S+P 500 fall close to the 5,400 handle. The index had reopened yesterday at 5,496.42. The low seen was set at 5,406.96. The subsequent surge later in the session saw it rise to a high at 5,560.41. So, a rise of more that 150 points from the lows and that is big by any recent standards. Of course it was led by the Nasdaq 100 and the component crossover there. The index later held most of that rebound into the close, when it ended the session 5,554.13, with a gain of 58.61 points on the day. Overnight the gains in Asia and then the jump start here in Europe has helped to keep the S+P 500 futures elevated this morning. Of course the US PPI data (more on that later), due out later on might get in the way of where the index actually reopens, but for now the S+P 500 is priced to open a little higher, just now at around 5,565
