S+P 500 narrowly avoids a technically negative close

An update here later yesterday afternoon noted the new record high for the S+P 500, at 5,670.81. That update also shared some surprise and concern, that the index only managed to beat the prior record by a single point. Well subsequent to that update, the index fell back, to hit a session low at 5,614.05. It later lifted from that low into the close and subsequently ended the session just 1.49 points higher, at 5634.58. Earlier in the day the index had set in place a record opening level, at 5,655.51. So, it very narrowly avoided tracking the Dow Jones, with a negative outside day reversal, but only by the slimmest of margins. Naturally, whatever the Fed delivers tonight will have an impact on whether or not we might see further record highs. It all looks like it is up for grabs folks, in terms of how this might play out. Right now the S+P futures are pricing a higher opening today, currently at around 5,644.
