S+P 500 futures slightly in the red this morning as more US earnings await

US stock markets all managed to forge out modestly higher closes last night. That was a definite steadying of the price action and certainly an indication that volatility was slowing and falling back. So, the S+P 500 was actually the best performing major index. That closed 0.79% higher on the session. The Dow Jones gained 0.78% and the Nasdaq 100 bought up the rear, with a 0.64% rise. The S+P 500 reached a high yesterday at 5,459.46 after opening at 5,441.96. The index had closed on Friday at 5,363.36 and the low seen on the day was set at 5,358.02. The S+P 500 later closed 42.61 points higher, at 5,405.97, but as you can see, it could have done better. Later today we have a number of S+P companies due to report their Q1 earnings. The first of note is Johnson and Johnson, at 10.20am GMT. We get a couple more large US banks after that. At 10.45am GMT we get results from Bank of America and then at 12pm GMT we get results from Citigroup. All or any of those could have an impact on the S+P 500 futures. There will be more to add on all this later this morning. Right now the futures are slightly in the red, currently indicating a reopening around 5,401
