S+P 500 futures recover earlier fall as Trump adds more tariff detail

The Asian stock markets all fell on the opening in response to the news noted here on Friday regarding US trade tariffs to be announced this week. That ensured across the board lower closes for the US stock markets. The Nasdaq 100 was the worst performing major index, handing back 1.30%. The Dow Jones closed 0.99% lower and the S+P 500 ended the day with a 0.95% loss. The index had earlier traded as high as 6,101.28. It fell to a low at 6,019.96 on the Trump news and later closed at 6,025.99, with a loss of 57.58 points on the day. Earlier this morning the S+P 500 futures priced the opening for the today, at or just below 6k at one stage, but they have bounced since then. This comes as Trump has announced over the weekend a blanket 25% tariff on all US imports of Steel and aluminium. Whilst the S+P 500 futures are now higher, the markets are still awaiting further news on reciprocal tariffs yet to be announced. The S+P 500 is right now priced to reopen around 6,042
