S+P 500 futures lift following series of early US earnings reports

A few of the noted S+P 500 earnings reports have just now been released and for the most part they have been reasonably positive. We had modest earnings beats from Pepsi, Merck and Comcast and those have helped to brighten the opening outlook for the index as a whole. Earlier the index was priced to reopen at below 5,330. It has since improved that to just above 5,370, remembering the index closed last night at 5,375.86
