S+P 500 futures edge lower

On Friday the US PCE report looked like it might have the potential to deliver a new all time high for the S+P 500. Well, in the event it did not and the index stalled just above 5,650 again. The high seen was set at 5,651.37. The index had opened earlier at 5,612.74, up from a close on Thursday at 5,591.96. Hence, the current all time high set earlier this summer, at 5,669.67 remains intact. Of course the index was not open yesterday due to the Labour Day holiday, but it will reopen later today ahead of the ISM manufacturing index report. That could be a game changer for the index today and later this morning we will look at what is expected there. Earlier today the S+P 500 futures were pricing the opening at around 5,655, but they have dropped back now and currently pricing it at around 5,643
