S+P 500 futures digesting a number of Q1 results just released

A number of pretty large US companies have just released their Q1 results. There have been reports for Southwest airlines, Caterpillar, Merck and Valero Energy. With the exception of Merck and the release of leading their new drug, all of those companies missed on Q1 earnings, but did up their EPS. Perhaps the most concerning thing is the miss on earnings and that is not going unnoticed by this analyst at least. There are many more companies reporting today and tomorrow too and it remains to be seen if those earrings misses will be repeated across following reports as they emerge. So, the S+P 500 managed to just about close in the green last night, adding just 1 point to 5,071.63. The futures price has been in the red all today and since the close last night, dragged down by Meta. The index is currently priced to reopen at around 5,040
