S+P 500 futures close to session highs as DAX retreats
Since the last update here on the DAX, the index has balked at the first attempt to set a new record above 19,491. The index stalled at 19,482 and has now backed off, close to 19,400. So, in terms of new records; close but no cigar. At the same time, the S+P 500 futures are still on the front foot just now. The index will be open for live trade today even though it is a US public holiday; it is not a Federal holiday. As noted much earlier today, the S+P 500 set a new record high on Friday, at 5,822.13 and later posted a new record daily and weekly close, at 5,815.03. Earlier today the index was priced to reopen below 5,805, but right now it is priced at around 5,819
