A later European session update here yesterday noted how the S+P 500 had somehow avoided a new record high by that stage in the day. Well, it did not avoid it after the European close. However, that was not until even later in the session and after a brief dip below 6,100 first. However, the push higher into the US close saw the index rise from a low at 6,099.51, reaching a new record high, at 6,129.63. Furthermore, the index closed almost exactly on that new record, when ending the session with a record close, at 6,129.58. In noting all this we should also mention, that new record only just beat the previous one by a point or so and only represented a gain of some 14.95 points on the session. Well, be that as it may, a record is still a record I guess. That said, the Asian markets are not exactly charging higher this morning and rather mixed right now too. There is a fair amount of red out there as well. Nonetheless, the S+P 500 futures are higher, currently indicating the prospect of another record opening later today, at around 6,133
