S+P 500 backs away from a new all time high today
Earlier this afternoon the S+P 500 managed to surpass the current all time high it set earlier this summer, at 5,669.67. The index set a new record high, at 5,670.81. So, in essence just 1 point above the previous record and so far absolutely no price extension of any note. Now that seems rather odd, but of course the index has a few hours yet to work on that, before the close. However, if that is the extent of the move, it sure would be a little surprising. Perhaps we shall see, if there is another push higher after the wider European close. The index is currently trading at 5,655
