A slightly disappointing performance from the FTSE 100 yesterday

As noted here a little earlier this morning, the DAX was the only major European stock market index to end in the green yesterday. The FTSE 100 closed slightly lower, handing back just 13 points, when closing at 7,917. The high seen yesterday was set at 7,939 and short of the 2024 high seen on Friday, at 7,961. The opening outlook for today is slightly negative right now too. The index had it within its power to have a look at 8k for the first time since peaking at 8,047 in February 2023. Well, right now that record high remains intact and elusive it seems. That said, the FTSE 100 has continued to perform well since holding that break above 7,700 at the back end of last month. The index is also still cheap when gauged against its major peers. The FTSE 100 is currently priced to reopen this morning at around 7,895
