Red letter days and new records for the EUR/JPY today

As mentioned here earlier this morning, the rise to a fresh 38 year record in the USD/JPY has lifted the major Yen crosses. That has delivered a new record high for the EUR/JPY. The Euro has risen to 173.88 today and it is very close to that record right now. Had there been a Euro in existence prior to implementation in 1999, then it would surely have traded higher many years ago, but prior to 1999 it was the DEM/JPY that was the major cross in Europe. That was a pair actively traded by this analyst back then and for many years beforehand too. So, the EUR/JPY closed last night at 173.48. It is trading right now at 173.85
