Record opening for US stocks ahead of ISM index at 3pm GMT- check out the Dow Jones
The US stock markets have just reopened and it has been a record opening for the S+P 500, Nasdaq 100 and Dow Jones today. The opening gains have seen the Dow Jones play catch-up with the other two indexes in that respect and rise back above the 45k handle for the first time this week. It has not lifted above the existing all time high yet and that remains in place at 45,071, but it is clearly within striking distance today. At the same time there is no guarantee that it will be reached, if there is an adverse reaction to the US ISM data, to be released shortly. That is expected to come in a little better than last time and ahead of this we get the final revision the services PMI data from the US. That is the same revision that we had earlier today across the whole of Europe. The Dow Jones is currently trading a little off the top just now, at 44,980
