Record closes for the Dow Jones and the S+P 500 but it was the Nasdaq 100 that was the star of the show

Yesterday both the Dow Jones and the S+P 500 set new record highs and new record daily closes to boot, but it was the tech sector and the Nasdaq 100 that really stole the show in terms of percentage gains on the day. The Nasdaq 100 closed 2.56% higher, gaining 495 points, to close at 19,839. However, earlier in the session the index had reached a high at 19,951. The outperformance in the Nasdaq 100 was actually led by a standout gain yesterday in Tesla (TSLA). That stock piled on 7.36% yesterday. The gains in the Nasdaq 100 ensured the S+P 500 outperformed the Dow Jones in percentage terms due to the tech crossover and lack of tech in the Dow. Overnight the Nasdaq 100 futures are slightly lower though and are currently indicating an opening later today at around 19,805
