Prospect of a new CAC 40 record totally derailed by US markets

Some days back, last week the CAC 40 came very close to rising to a new all time high. The CAC 40 futures had at one stage priced it to rise above 6,300. Well, in the event, when it comes to live trading the index was unable to match that and it stalled short of the record it set last year, at 8,259. The index had opened yesterday at 8,161 after closing on Friday, at 8,120. The slide in US stocks ensured that 2024 record high remained elusive again. The CAC fell back close to the 8k handle. The low seen was set at 8,039. The index closed yesterday at 8,047. The CAC 40 futures were pricing an opening towards 7,965 after the close yesterday, but that outlook has improved since then. The index is right now priced to reopen around 8,075, but it increasingly looks like the French stock market index might have blown it chances of another record for the time being
