The price point at which the Dow Jones will enter a Bear market?

The answer to the headline question is easy to answer if we take the all time high seen last year at 45,073. It arrives at a price point for that at 36,058. However, and strictly speaking we should take the definition of a bear market as defined by a drop of 20% or more from the high in any calendar year. Well the high for the Dow Jones this year it not 45,073. It is 45,054 set on January 25. So, that arrives at a bear market entry level a little lower, at 36,043 and that is the level on the radar here today. The index officially (more a book entry than anything) reopened a short while ago at 37,879 after closing on Friday at 38,314. The low seen so far has been set at 36,611. So, it is still some 600 points away from that, but given the moves seen in recent days that is easily reachable before the closing bell tonight. That is not to say it will get there, but it could just as easily do so.
