Now Milton threatens after Helene ravaged the US only last month- Dow Jones in the spotlight here

It is always hard to assess just how the markets will react to the devastation of a storm. Well, as US citizens are still counting the cost of the damage ravaged by Helene last month, now Hurricane Milton threatens to be even more devastating. So, what does this have to do with Wall Street you might ask? Well, initially not much, but it is never a given there will not be an impact on the markets from this kind of storm. Old timers like this one will remember the storm of 1987 in the UK and how that tied in with stock markets crumbling. The great storm in the UK happened on October 15-16. (this analyst had to walk to work on October 16, as the country was at a standstill owing to the damage). The crash of 1987 came the very next Monday- October 19. So, as the US stock markets prepare to reopen, it is worth noting what time in the year we are at right now. Whilst of course not predicting anything here at all, it is always worth keeping your wits about you folks. The Dow Jones will shortly reopen for business, currently indicated at around 42,015
