Yesterday gold came to within a whisker of reaching a new all time record high. That was and still is in place at $2,685.58 and it was set on September 26. The high seen yesterday was set at $2,685.35, so just cents shy of a new record. After rejecting that the metal fell back to $2,666.85, closing at $2,673.83, but earlier today it rebounded again and this time it reached $2,684.95. Another dip to around $2,675 then ensued following that second failed attempt at a new record, but it is pressing higher again. So, can it set a new record today? Well, it clearly wants to try for that looking at the price action over the past couple of days, but as you can see there are clearly still sellers in place around that $2,685 level, so we shall see as the day unfolds. Gold is currently trading at $2,683.60
