Nikkei 225 falls 12.40% in record daily closing slide
The Nikkei 225 has just closed and it has been absolutely smashed. The index has just closed 12.40% lower on the day and that is its biggest ever one-day loss on record. So, if you thought the slide on Friday was bad, then this is another level folks. As warned here on Friday, the index has now fallen into a bear market in the space of just two sessions and that is quite remarkable. The Nikkei has just closed 4,451 points lower, at 31,458. The Nikkei futures are falling further and heading towards 30k. The whole risk dynamic just fell out of bed folks and this has seen thousands of Japanese retail investors wiped out. This is going to seriously impact the European markets again shortly, when live trading resumes in around an hour
